The Power of Motivation

By: Philip Lilavois - CEO

There's an interesting aspect to motivational speakers, posters, books, and audio. You have those that dismiss them and those who embrace them. The fact is, if you were standing on a free throw line on a basketball court, it's pretty assured you would do better shooting shots if the audio you were listening in a headset said "You are the best!', "Up and in" and "Nothing but net" as opposed to a recording that said "You are tired", "Your arms are heavy" or "You have no talent". How BIG of a difference it would make is probably subjective, but to dismiss the effect of positive reinforcement is perhaps, naive.

Motivational speakers and writers go back generations. If you haven't read Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" or been exposed to Norman Vincent Peale, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Zig Ziglar or Stephen Covey, be sure to Google them or check out videos on YouTube. Of course, Anthony Robbins is always a popular choice for motivation with extensive material and programs related to health, relationship and financial improvement.

There are also some newer motivational stars performing good work. These include Eric Thomas, Nicolas James Vujicic, Shiv Kera and Darren Hardy. It may be challenging for some more experienced real estate professionals to listen to messages from younger speakers and authors but it can be very worthwhile. Here's why. You don't have to accept or believe everything each of these motivational gurus have to say. This  thought can be liberating. When you watch or listen to these speakers, just let yourself hear their thoughts, and either accept or reject them. Take what you want, leave behind what you don't. This, in essence, lets you compile your own motivational series of thoughts, taken from a variety of messages you buy into from differing speakers.

There's an old expression that a garden left unattended will soon be filled with weeds. Tend to your thoughts with positive input and watch your business and life improve. Motivational material can help you do just that.
