Florida Real Estate License Requirements

In the State of Florida, exams, licensing, and continuing education for real estate agents are governed by the Florida Real Estate Commission.

There are two basic real estate licenses in Florida, a broker's license and a sales associate's license.

To obtain the sales associate's license, a person must:

  • AGE: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • EDUCATION: Must hold a high school diploma or its equalivent.
  • PRE-LICENSE EDUCATION: Must complete and pass a FREC approved 63-hour Sales Associate pre-licensure course.
  • FEE: The fee is $105 which can be paid either by using our Online Services or by personal check.
  • FINGERPRINTS: An applicant must have a background check as part of the licensing process.
  • APPLICATION: Complete an application
  • TEST: Pass the Florida sales associate's exam
Sample Salesperson Exam

To obtain the broker's license, a person must:

  • AGE: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • EXPERIENCE: Must show proof of one of the following: Has been registered as an active sales associate for at least 24 months during the preceding 5 years under one or more brokers; has held a current and valid real estate sales associate's license for at least 24 months during the preceding 5 years in the employ of a governmental agency for a salary and performing the duties authorized in Chapter 475, F.S.; or has held a current and valid real estate broker's license for at least 24 months during the preceding 5 years in any other state, territory, or jurisdiction of the United States, or in any foreign national jurisdiction.
  • EDUCATION: Must complete and pass a FREC approved 72-hour Florida broker's pre-licensure course.
  • FEE: The fee is $115 which can be paid either by using our Online Services or by personal check.
  • FINGERPRINTS: An applicant must have a background check as part of the licensing process.
